Submit a Public Service Announcement (PSA)
WGXC is excited to support local organizations and community groups by airing
public service announcements (PSAs) for cultural and informational events and
announcements throughout our listening area.
To submit a PSA, send a recording or copy to info@wgxc.org after reading the guidelines below.
PSAs must be under 45-seconds. 30-seconds is ideal. If you are writing copy for us to record, make sure we can read it in under 45-seconds.
We ask for at least 3-week’s notice of an event. (More is always better!)
Please make sure your announcement includes all relevant information – dates, times, locations, contact information with a phone number / website for more information, and enough detail to inform the public. End your copy / recording with the phrase: “More information at…”
PSA recordings must adhere to our non-commercial regulations. These are outlined below.
1. Pricing information. We don’t mention prices! Words such s “free”, “sale”, “discount”, and other references to prices are not allowed. If an event is free you may say it's open to the public.
2. Calls to Action. These are statements or phrases that command or invite someone to action. We can’t say: “Come to tonight’s performance!” or “Bring a friend!” Instead of telling someone to “Call 555-WGXC”, let them know that “More information is available at 555-WGXC.”
3. Qualitative / comparative language. We don’t use any embellishing language to describe events or information – WGXC is here to share information, not promote anything. Avoid words like: best, finest, only, etc.
Many organizations and individuals will pre-record their own PSAs. WGXC voice talent volunteers will also regularly record incoming copy for PSAs.
At the beginning of every program, WGXC’s on-air hosts choose a PSA to broadcast; all recordings will be available to them. PSAs are not guaranteed to be read on the air.
If you want to guarantee that your event is announced on the air, consider event underwriting. You can contact underwriting@wgxc.org for more information.
Visit our Events Page add click on the "Add an event" button to submit a community event or announcement to be read on air.
